Coronavirus Update

Last Updated: June, 2020

We’re also already planning for the AOASM 2021 Clinical Conference in person in Anaheim, which will feature content from the original agenda from this year, as well as new and updated material and skills – and of course, planning events in mind with the opportunity to spend time with your friends and colleagues!

Saying that, the AOASM will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation, and adjust the face-to-face meeting format pending on how things play out in the coming months. A final decision will not be made for some time. Please feel free to check back later this fall for more updates at that time. Thank you.

We want to thank you all for your hard work and accommodations during this time – many of us are providing emergency health care in situations to which we are unaccustomed and under unusual duress. Some of our members have either had themselves, friends or family fall ill to COVID-19 as a result of serving their medical duties, and they are all in our thoughts and prayers. Your service to our national and local communities is recognized and appreciated, and consistent with the ‘can-do, will-do’ passion found in the AOASM. We tip our hats to you in respect and gratitude.

Consistent with our mission statementwe are extremely glad to announce that we are providing a CME-credited Virtual Conference from May 1-3, 2020 in place of our annual spring Clinical ConferenceAlthough we cannot do all the hands-on workshops that make our conference so valuable and sought-after, the program that our Program Chair, Becca Rodriguez Regner, DO, FACOFP (& FAOASM-elect…), has put together for this virtual conference is especially timely and engaging!

AOASM is taking all necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of attendees in light of concerns about COVID-19. The Annual Meeting in Anaheim, California, is currently scheduled to take place as planned. We are paying close attention to new developments and following the guidance of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). These sites include daily updates, recommendations, and tips on travel.

Attendee safety and well-being is our top priority.

We are working with the Disneyland Hotel to coordinate appropriate safety procedures.

As of March 10, there are 124 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in California. The CDC currently recommends that individuals follow everyday preventative actions that include hand washing, covering your cough, and staying home if you are ill.  Exercise discretion if you are not feeling well.

Stay informed and take common-sense precautions (see below). View this interview from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

We are continuing to track this situation and will provide updates on this site, by email, and through social media outlets.
